THE ABOLD HISTORY OF DIGITAL COMPUTING FROM A WORLD WAR TO AI

 THE BOLD HISTORY

The world is both smaller and larger than we often think. Our curiosity and the way we notice patterns make us different from other animals. The first idea I want to share is to think of the world as our home.

What is "Computing"?

The word computing comes from old roots meaning to count. Long ago people counted things like sheep. Today, computing still starts with counting but now it handles tons of data and powerful ideas. Counting and organizing information is at the heart of our digital world.

Why history matters

History is not always what we expect. For example, some people once believed that the Americas were empty before Columbus. That idea is wrong. Who tells the story and where you get your information matters a lot. Different sources can change how we understand the past.

Data and information

Everything I’m sharing here these words and ideas — are information. I learned them from books and other sources, so be careful and thoughtful about where you get your facts.

What we’ll share next

Starting today, Quantum Initiatives Nepal will share the history of digital computing. We’ll cover big names and ideas like Claude Shannon and information theory, Alan Turing and his work, John von Neumann’s architecture, and how these foundations led to modern AI and cloud computing. This is a small announcement join us as we explore how counting turned into the powerful field of computing
